Objective

Worldfish is working with AfricaRice on rice-fish integrated farming, as part of the Accelerating the Impact of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa project in Mali (AICCRA Mali). The purpose of this position is to organizeand facilitate a three-day wrap-up workshop, in relation to the technical support for baseline analysis, capacity building, and policy options for rice-fish integration in Mali. The workshop will be jointly organized by Worldfish and AfricaRice and will be held in Bamako, Mali by the end of October 2023.

Scope of Work

You will work closely with WorldFish research team to;

1. Lead the preparation of a 3-day workshop.

2. Co-facilitate the workshop.

3. Compile the final workshop report.

Deliverables and Timeline

The consultant will be responsible for delivering the following outputs:

Skill, Experience and Knowledge:
  • At least a post-graduate degree in Agricultural Economics, Aquaculture, Rural development, or other relevant discipline. A PhD degree or MSc with more than 5 years of experience is preferred.
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English and French.
  • Demonstrated experience on leading and facilitating participative processes for value chain mapping to develop theory of change in agriculture or aquaculture interventions.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate teams and encourage collaborative teamwork, and experience sharing.
  • A good understanding of the aquaculture value chain in Mali/ Ivory Coast.
  • Ability to work with local government, private sector, and community stakeholders, including the ability to facilitate understanding between groups with different perspectives and interests.
  • Working understanding about Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Excellent presentation skills.

Budget

Interested consultant(s) are requested to provide a detailed budget proposal outlining professional fees, travel expenses (if applicable), and any other costs related to the consultancy. The budget should be submitted along with the application.

Evaluation and Selection

Applications will be evaluated based on the qualifications and experience of the consultant, the quality and feasibility of the proposed approach and work plan, the relevance of previous work examples and the most competitive proposal. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview or request additional information before final selection. This opportunity is open for all applicants with passport allowing to travel to Mali without a visa and priority will be given to Malians.
